This week was science week. Science week is so exciting. Every day there is a science lesson, or maybe all the lessons are science! Science week is filled with exciting activities; there may be explosions or bubbles flying all around the classroom! There are so many brilliant things to do as a scientist. At Chase Bridge, we visited our beautiful pond that has lots of interesting creatures, you never know what you might discover!  Science week is a important reminder for us to become scientists, so we can explore the wondrous world around us.

We had so much fun visiting the pond area. There are loads of interesting animals that live in the pond. We saw a huge stickleback and lots of water snails. We used nets to skim the pond so that we did not disturb the creatures in their habitat. Alicia caught a stickleback! The pond also has a bug hotel that allows insects to have a place to gather. Insects are incredibly important to our world, without those plants would not grow and we would be in a very tricky situation! Be kind to your local worm! It was a great place to investigate and dig for creatures. We moved logs and rocks to discover families of woodlice burrowing into the dirt.

We did so many fun things during science week. We interviewed some of our classmates and asked them about what their absolute favourite activity was:

Daisy said “My favourite thing was the pond dipping because we got to find different insects and some people found fish.” Samir also loved the pond area and said, “My favourite thing was pond dipping, l caught a fish and a pond snail!”

During Science week, we were thinking about how science can make the world better; Mia said “My favourite thing is designing a robot bug: it explores oceans it has a booster pack it also has a hard shell, with flippers. It will clean up all the pollution in the oceans.” One of the best things about Science Week is the exciting experiments. Sam said, “My favourite thing was making water strider because it involved trial and improvement”

Science is so important to our world: it allows us to invent things to solve problems and make the world better. It is about understanding the amazing world we live in and seeing how things work.
