Year 3

Thank you for visiting our page and welcome to Year 3!

Your Year 3 teachers are Mrs Jackman (3J and Team Leader), Mrs O'Hara (3J), Mrs Major (3M) and Mr Ballantine (3B). Our teachers are ably supported by teaching assistants Mrs Forde, Mrs Sheldrake and Mrs Moore.

Moving to the first junior year is a big change for infant children, but we are delighted to see our children have confidently made the transition into junior school life.

Homework for Year 3 will be issued on a Wednesday with the expectation of completed work to be returned by the following Monday.

We hope you will find the information featured on this page useful. However, if you do have any questions, please speak to the class teachers at drop off or home time, or send us an email at

What will the children be learning this half-term?

This term, the children will go back in time and find out what Britain was like during our topic ‘Stone Age to Iron Age’. They will learn how these periods fit into the chronology of British History. The Stone Age is part of our prehistory - that is the history, which exists from before writing was around!  As we move from the Stone Age to the Iron Age we’ll be exploring all sorts of things: from stone circles and mammoth hunts, all the way to cave paintings and hill forts.

Our topic will begin by the fire pit learning about food and life during the Stone Age and will end with a trip to Chiltern Outdoor Museum where the children will become hunter-gatherers and will learn how to create a fire.
