Year 1

Who We Are

The teachers in Year 1 are Mrs Demetriou (Willow Class and Team Leader), Miss Harland(Apple Class), and Miss Brown (Oak Class).  Our wonderful phase group teaching assistants are Miss Rush, Miss Craw and Mrs Grynczel.

We are delighted to welcome your children into Year 1 and are happy to see that they have transitioned well from reception classes.

Homework for Year 1 starts in January where we will be issuing assigned work on a Friday with the expectation of completed work to be returned by the following Wednesday.

What We Will Be Learning

Topics - here at Chase Bridge, our curriculum is mapped out using half termly topics; this allows for plenty of cross-curricular learning and enrichment activities, as well as supports children to make links between the knowledge they are acquiring. During English lessons, class texts are carefully selected to reflect the current topic, leading to meaningful and engaging writing opportunities based on the topic, author, plotline, characters and/or setting.
