Science Week!

On the 7th June, science week commenced. In this week, the classes of Chase Bridge enjoyed doing excellent experiments and science activities. They included the following:

A bug hunt and pond dip

Students were given sheets (which had pictures and names of various bugs) and they had to find bugs in the Edible Garden or animals in the pond. After spotting and counting the animals, we had to show our data and we made a bar chart online.

Designing a Robo-bug

This involved looking at the features of an insect and designing a robot based on insects features to perform different challenges, like search and rescue, building and exploring oceans.

Experiments

Some of us used wire to create water skaters and look to see how they could use surface tension to skate across the water. We also made ‘water flowers’ which opened up in the water due to the absorption of water into the paper.  Another investigation was looking at how water can move (just like it does in plants) across a paper towel to make a rainbow! It was great fun.

Conservationists and Endangered animals

Finally, we searched in the orchard, edible garden and playground for information on a range of different conservationists, such as Jane Goodall and Greta Thunberg. We learnt how they have helped the environment. We also saw pictures of endangered animals such as orang-utans and gorillas.

We hope you had the most scientific week!
